Project EATS
Founded by artist Linda Goode Bryant, Project EATS is a growing network of community-based food systems that uses art, urban agriculture, partnerships, and social enterprise to sustainably produce and equitably distribute essential resources. Founded in 2009, Project EATS aims to increase food sovereignty by growing and distributing fresh produce in New York City communities that have limited access to healthy nutritious food while also providing residents with farm and culinary opportunities for employment and management at PE and other farms and culinary enterprises. “Nothing has been more fulfilling,” Goode Bryant says of this work, “because I think this is what art is. It is food and life.” To find out more, please click here.
Manuela is delighted to have entered into an innovative partnership with Project EATS through a variety of mediums:
Committed to sustainability in all its forms, Manuela is proud to be the only restaurant in Manhattan with an in-house composter. Guests will be able to visit the kitchen to view ‘The Rocket’, which uses nature’s own processes to break down and convert daily food waste into a valuable nutrient-rich resource. The resulting compost will be used to enrich Project EATS’ six urban gardens across the city’s five boroughs.
Our association is also celebrated through a dedicated window installation on Prince Street where, inspired by the spirit of the area and its role in the lives of generations of artists and creatives, Linda will tell Soho’s history in four chapters over the coming months.
Additionally, guests will be given the opportunity to contribute a voluntary $1 donation to their bill, which will go to Project EATS, completing a circle of community support and engagement.
